Yontoo Releases Second Layer App - PageRage
New Web Application Allows Users to Modify Their Facebook Profile
7/24/08 SAN DIEGO, CA – The extent to which Facebook users are able to modify the look of their pages has just changed dramatically. Yontoo Technology, Inc. has released the second Layer App™ for their Yontoo Layers™ platform. The company released Yontoo Layers, a Web browser add-on that creates virtual layers over existing websites, in June. The system consists of Layer Apps which run on Yontoo Layers and provide different functionality to different webpages. Today Yontoo is announcing the release of PageRage™ for Facebook. The application supplies users with the ability to add additional content and images to their Facebook page in ways and to areas inaccessible through any other method.
Unlike Yontoo’s first Layer App, Sanity Switch which removes customizations made to MySpace pages with the click of a button, PageRage enables Facebook users to add layouts and colors to their pages with just a couple of mouse clicks. The system does not entail any copying and pasting of code and does not require any technical skill or knowledge at all and works with both Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers.
“Simply go to PageRage.com, download the software, choose a layout, and you’re ready to go,” explains Arie Trouw, Yontoo’s CEO. “We load the layout of your choice onto your Facebook page for you. It’s quick and easy.”
One thing the guys at Yontoo say they’ve already gotten feedback about during their private Beta surrounds the fact that their system requires users to provide their Facebook login credentials for the layout loading process. “The credentials are strictly used to ensure that a user has the authority to modify the page in question,” assures Mr. Trouw. “We go to great lengths to ensure that the credentials are transmitted securely and we do not save or store the credentials for any reason.”
PageRage has close to 100 layouts currently with more being added on a regular basis. These layouts range from simple color changes to new looks that express statements such as support for Presidential candidates, breast cancer awareness, environmental issues, and more. The layout designers for PageRage realize that tastes will widely vary. They have also created multiple versions of their layouts that include partial versions that will enable users to control how much content is added to their page.
According to Trouw, a focus on user feedback will be an integral part of providing users with a product that they like. “The software makes virtually anything possible when it comes to modifying the look of your page, so if you like the idea but don’t see a layout that strikes your fancy, please let us know. We have forms on both Yontoo.com and PageRage.com that we really hope users make use of,” notes Mr. Trouw.
